"State Representative John LaBruzzo of Metairiesaid many of his constituents are tired of paying for children from
poor families and that is why he is considering proposing legislation
that would pay women on government assistance $1,000 if they choose to
be sterilized.
“You have these people who are just fed up
with working their buns off to try to provide for their own family and
being forced by the government o provide for others’ families who just
want to have unlimited kids,” he said.
LaBruzzo said he is studying voluntary sterilization for women whose sole financial support comes from the government in the form of welfare or other public
assistance. His idea would be to give the women $1,000 if they had
their tubes tied.
His proposal has come under harsh criticism by some civil rights groups.
The ACLU called it a misguided and mean-spirited attempt to eliminate poverty by eliminating the poor.
LaBruzzo said his office has been flooded by emails, many supporting his position.
“We have more in favor, saying, ‘good job, keep it going.’” he said. “Of
course we have a lot saying you’re going in the wrong direction.”
LaBruzzo said that in addition to the sterilization of women, he would consider
vasectomies for welfare dads and tax incentives for higher income
families with children in private
schools."

I honestly don't know how I feel about this at the moment. I 've always made a joke that there should be a mandatory parenting class and maybe a test that women should have to pass before having children. I joke that until the time they are of age and able to take the test and class; they should be on MANDATORY birth control. I know this isn't necessarily politically or humanly correct; yet how many retards do you know that have kids and continue to bring them into the world? I specifically know of one female in my building who is very poor and on welfare and clinically diagnosed with a form of down syndrome. Yet she gave birth to one child last year and has a premature newborn now in the hospital hardly surviving and about to get a liver transplant. This girl is filthy. I mean so filthy, she was diagnosed with chlamydia and after two years and two kids...never treated it. She doesn't even remember to feed the older child sometimes. When she does the milk is sometimes spoiled. She has an abusive, immigrant man as the children's father. He constantly beats her and is always screaming. He has even threatened to kill her and the baby if she didn't give him food stamps to sell for drugs. This mother fucker is the only Mexican I know with kids, that will not try to get a job to save his or his kids lives. I know all of this because, my best friend/ex-boyfriend/who knows?, Mom is basically a charity worker and tries to help the girl as much as she can. The girl of topic's first child is an Angel. A very cute little boy with no disabilities and a great personality. He is a very well mannered baby and never cries or has fits. Had he not been born into this situation, he could be a very smart and successful man one day. I even found myself wanting to help the baby, (not the mother), as much as possible and occasionally baby-sat him. The only time I've heard this child cry was in his sleep. I think its because of all the violence and screaming in his home. He all of sudden sat up in his sleep one day in my house and began to wail like a very traumatized person.
That officially was the day I felt I needed to take some personal responsibility for this kids well being. I can only imagine if this girl was to bring home her newborn after a major surgery, if that baby would survive.
Now with this example in mind... what the fuck can we do about the ever growing population and the ever decreasing economy?
If the government were to ever get control of a woman's right to have children, I'm sure it would be a big problem. No woman would agree to it because the powers that be, don't necessarily understand us or our needs. Anything that is government regulated almost always goes bad. It is a woman's given right to be able to chose when and how she may have her baby. You take that away and it's like taking what makes us women away. Yet and still, I am also tired of supporting perfectly healthy and capable women with my tax dollars. Women who should get their asses out of the breeding bed and go to work!
In all I feel we need a better government. A government that is actually able to carry out well thought up plans to help any issues like this. We need more money for more programs that teach and train women to care for children. Job programs and a better economy would also help. If these people who are down and out just continue to have children and at younger ages than ever in history... without some sort of change in that vicious cycle... it will affect the future in a harsh way. I already see most of my peers and younger youth not really giving a fuck about what goes on in the world... imagine if we become a crumbling nation and global warming starts to set in and in 20 years our population doubles but our hired rate goes down? Will every child born into a fucked up life eventually get the right education and be able to cope? Be able to help? Chances are that only 10% will. I'm not saying you have to continue the life you're brought into, but changing your life drastically while you still in the gutter is very, very hard. Especially if the only thing you know is what your parents have been and are still teaching you, but are uneducated themselves.
Education is the key to our futures but the government is only cutting more funding for that, to bail out conglomerates. I don't know what the solution could be honestly but... I don't think I want to bring a kid into this world or at least America until "The State of The Union," is muuuuch better.

I know I'm late on commenting this. But I just discovered your blog and slowly reading all posts like a stalker..lol.....Have you seen the movie Idiocracy? It's not the most spectacular movie but the plot has some sad truth to it. When ever you're bored light one up and watch it. And after, if you feel like you've wasted 90 minutes of your life you can shoot me. "Hello. Welcome to Costco. I love you."
ReplyDeleteI have, I so have. It's funny but sad, you are very right. Thanks for stopping in.
ReplyDeleteAnd looking at all my posts, DOES NOT make you a stalker, it makes you a really informed reader. Therefore you will know what you're talking about in the comment wars that sometimes go on in here lol.
